Brief Biographical Sketch:

Having survived an odd childhood full of colorful global destinations, Meredith lived in the orange groves of rural southern California, amidst the snow flurries of Chicago, and in the palmy paradise of Stanford. She currently lives on the shore of the San Francisco Bay.

When she's not writing her dissertation on British novellas, she's recovering from the exhaustion of said dissertation, teaching Stanford students, practicing yoga and meditation, making odd little films of her new kittens, and trying to learn how to bake bread.

What happens when a new idea pops into our heads? Can we make that happen more often? How do people in the top of their field-- scientists, artists, writers, inventors, athletes, advertisers, filmmakers, etc.--free themselves from "common knowledge" and limber up their thinking? This seminar is a hands-on, excercise-based, whirlwind through the world of creative innovation. Your brain may never be the same again. This course draws on the work of creativity pioneers such as Csikszentmihalyi (Flow), de Bono (Lateral Thinking, Six Thinking Hats), Tharp (The Creative Habit), and von Oech (A Wack on the Side of the Head).
