Brief Biographical Sketch:

Bill Nye, in spite of having a name "slightly" similar to the Science Guy, does not know much about making smoke come out of over-sized test tubes. Rather, he started in Electrical Engineering as an analog integrated circuit designer, worked in IC chip CAD software development for 15 years, then made a career switch that led him to a Multimedia Masters degree and programming offline multiplayer games. In general, Bill enjoys using his software skills in many programming languages to pull together game and technology-based art projects. Bill has taught, at the college level, scripting courses in PHP, MySQL, Python, and Flash Actionscript.

Using the freely downloadable Max-MSP RunTime and a supplied patch file, every student should be able to enter very simple one-line expressions and immediately see the resulting "psychodelic" visualization, pulsing to music if desired. To help in getting started, there is a pop-up menu to choose some easy-to- understand one-line starter expressions.
