R2902: Soul Cypher Collective Spoken Word Experience in Splash! Spring 2013 (Apr. 13 - 14, 2013)
This workshop builds community interdependence and individual confidence through the process of creating a dynamic collective spoken word piece. Individual creativity, movement, song, sound syncopation, projected imagery and body percussion will be used to support the group's resultant spoken word piece. Participants will prepare the collective poem for presentation and filming.


V2904: RAW Vibrations: How To Create A Sustainable Healing Drum, Chant and Dance Circle in Splash! Spring 2013 (Apr. 13 - 14, 2013)
This workshop shares the basic components of healing drum circles in general and the key components of sustainable ones in particular. This is a facilitation class that does not require drums. Participants will use the body as their percussion instruments as we teach them a multilayered traditional African drum rhythm created by women called Kuku. Participants will leave with a one page guide to healing drum, chant and dance circles and a drum notation sheet for Kuku.

RAW VIBRATIONS! - Creating a Sustainable Healing Drum, Dance and Chant Circle. Workshop Leader: Monica Anderson Duration: 1 - 1.75 hours (the workshop time can be tailored to fit the conference's scheduling needs). WHAT TO BRING: Your heartbeat and a love for music! Materials provided: Simple percussion instruments (to be returned to the workshop leader at the end of the workshop) - Handouts outlining the RAW™ method for creating sustainable healing drum, chant and dance circles. Instructions for creating percussion instruments and drums using easily found materials. This workshop is intended for folks who want to learn more about drum circles in general and the key components of sustainable ones in particular. Though everyone can benefit from the knowledge, resources shared - folks who are interested in creating a drum circle or have already created one will find this workshop especially valuable. You are welcome to bring your own drums; but, it is not necessary.
