As we become an ever more urbanized population, the importance of having access to parkland and open spaces cannot be overstated. This class focuses on the impact urban parks can have on a city and its residents as well as insights into the ways in which we as citizens can help foster green space development and restoration. Examples of reclaiming urban spaces throughout the world will be highlighted with special emphasis on the revitalization efforts taking place along the banks of the Los Angeles River…yes L.A. has a river.
