Brief Biographical Sketch:

I am from Ithaca, NY, and I received my B.A. in biology and psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. As an undegrad, I spent two years working in Bob Doms's lab on HIV drug resistance. I am now a second year graduate student in the Micriobiology and Immunology program at Stanford University. I work in Justin Sonnenburg's lab, where we study the bacteria that benevolently live in the intestines of humans. In my free time, I like to play soccer and watch lots of movies.

H796: The Thrill of the Goal in Splash! Spring 2010 (Apr. 17 - 18, 2010)
In life, you should try your best at everything you do, and when you accomplish something, you should celebrate. These accomplishments can include getting good grades, standing up for yourself, inventing something, or anything else you are happy and proud you did. This class will work on how to celebrate accomplishments, specifically focusing on scoring goals in soccer. While soccer will be the main scenario we will look at, we hope to show how using celebration to reward yourself for doing something special helps you enjoy doing your best.


S566: Bacteria and the Human Body: A Loving Relationship in Splash! Fall 2009 (Oct. 10 - 11, 2009)
We will survey the relationship that humans have with the trillions of bacteria that live on and inside of them. This will include how these bacteria need people, but will focus mainly on how these bacteria contribute to general human health.
