Brief Biographical Sketch:

I'm a first year PhD student in Political Science at Stanford. My primary fields are international relations and comparative politics, and I am most interested in the relationship between economic development, corruption, and human rights. I am also an active member of the Catholic community at Stanford. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia in 2010, with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

S1479: The Financial Crisis: What really caused it and what are we doing now? in Splash! Spring 2011 (Apr. 16 - 17, 2011)
This course will explain what really happened in the 2007-2009 Financial Crisis and we we can expect to go from here. The U.S. will be the primary country examined, though others will be discussed.


S1144: Liberation Theology and Other Forms of Catholic Political Activism in Latin America in Splash! Fall 2010 (Nov. 13 - 14, 2010)
This course will outline some of the tenets of Liberation Theology and how they have been applied in various settings in Latin America. We will also discuss other forms of political activism led by the Catholic Church in the region. To conclude the class, students will be asked to ponder how their own beliefs regarding faith, regardless of what they are, may apply to political action in their communities and around the world, particularly in non-traditional ways.
