Brief Biographical Sketch:

I grew up in Knoxville, TN and spent most of my childhood working on a colossal tree house, catching fireflies, and herding all the neighborhood kids. I am of Indian origin, and it wasn't till I left for college at Princeton University that I realized what a big part of my life my ethnicity was. In college I was part of an experimental program in Biology called Integrated Science, where unlike most Biologists, we used concepts from Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science to solve contemporary biological problems. By the end of my college career, this new ethos in science defined me and made graduate school a viable and attractive option. Nonetheless... as I geared up for graduate school, I felt the freedom to do WHATEVER I wanted leave my finger tips. My best friend Joe, who was also going to graduate school, and I had taken a couple trips together, to Peru and Mexico, and decided during a dreary and rainy Princeton day that we were going to defer and travel for the entire next year...

8 countries, 4 jobs, and 12 months later we did it!
