S2069: Men (And Women) in Black: Making Sense of Supreme Court Decisions in Splash! Spring 2012 (Apr. 21 - 22, 2012)
Justice Holmes observed that “propositions do not decide individual cases”; thus, we need to explore alternative grounds the Court incorporates in its deliberations. In this seminar, we will discuss how the Supreme Court makes its decisions and, in the process, develop a perspective in which we can "judge" the Court ourselves. Students will then play "Justice" to decide actual Supreme Court cases.
